egg nog cocktail

Egg Nog Martini

Egg Nog Martini

Last weekend, I met up with a group of new friends to celebrate the end of the year, holidays, and our ventures in co-working. I volunteered to bring the cocktails and wound up finding a recipe for an eggnog martini that I wanted to try.

The recipe that I ended up using was from Curtis Stone, who I happened to catch making this recipe on The Today Show.

The eggnog martini received 2 thumbs up from everyone that tried it, and I also heard from one young man that “this drink is surprisingly not that girly.” Don’t worry guys,  liqueur is liqueur, so don’t be afraid to try anything that I feature on girly-drinks.com. The only reason it’s on this site is because I’ve given it my girly drinks seal of approval, but that doesn’t necessarily make it a “girly drink.”

While traditional “homemade” eggnog is made up of milk, sugar, nutmeg, eggs, then mixed with bourbon/rum/cognac or the alcohol of your choice, this version of the Eggnog Martini takes out the homemade process and adds a hazelnut touch. With only three ingredients (equal parts egg nog, vodka, and Frangelico), it’s an easy cocktail to make in a pinch, and it’s hard to mess up.

Eggnog Martini

1 oz eggnog
1 oz Frangelico
1 oz vodka
2 tablespoons crushed ice
1 whole nutmeg to grate for garnish
Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well for about 20 to 30 seconds. Pour the mix through a strainer into a martini glass; grate nutmeg over the drink and serve.
