Father’s Day is approaching quickly, and while Dad may not appreciate girly drinks, you can bet that he won’t turn down a bacon cocktail.

Start off Father’s Day right with a Bacon cocktail made with Bakon vodka, a potato vodka that has the essence of a “crisp slice of peppered bacon.” I had the opportunity to try Bakon Vodka at Tales of the Cocktail last year and was quite impressed — the taste isn’t overpowering but isn’t underwhelming, either; you can definitely taste and smell the bacon.

The Bakon Flip

Bakon Flip: Bacon Cocktails

• One whole egg
• 1 ½ oz Bakon Vodka
• 1 oz Irish cream
• ½ oz Maple syrup

Shake vigorously and pour into a flip glass (or wine glass). Grate Fresh
nutmeg on top.

Bakon Bloody Mary

Bakon Bloody Mary: Bacon Cocktails

• 1½ oz. Bakon Vodka in a pint glass filled with ice.
• Fill glass with tomato juice
• 1 dash each of celery salt and ground black pepper
• 2-4 dashes each of Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco
• 1/8 tsp. horseradish

Bakon Chocolate Martini

Chocolate Martini

• 1 part Bakon Vodka
• 1 part chocolate liqueur
• A splash of cream

Combine in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Strain and pour into a sugar-rimmed martini glass.

Bonefish Grill is turning their focus to rum this month, with Bonefish founder Tim Curci adventuring down to the Florida Keys to do some rum running.

During his adventures, Curci stops by the original Tiki Bar in the Florida Keys, learns about the history of rum, and worked with Myers Rum to create new cocktails. He also stops to chat with Trapper, one of the original bartenders at the Tiki Bar in the Florida Keys, who gives us the recipe for the original version of the Rum Runner.

The Original Rum Runner Recipe (Tiki John’s Recipe from The Original Tiki Bar)

• 7/8 oz Blackberry brandy
• 7/8 oz Banana liqueur
• 1/2 oz Dark rum
• 1/2 oz 151 proof rum
• 5/8 oz Grenadine
• 1 oz Lime juice

Bonefish Grill Dark and Stormy Recipe (The Bonefish Twist)

• 2 oz Dark Rum
• Fresh Lemon
• Dash Bitters
• Mint Leaves
• Ginger Beer

Shake rum, lemon, bitters, and mint leaves together over ice. Pour into glass over ice and top with ginger beer.

Bonefish Grill Coconut Pie With Rum Sauce

Coconut Pie With Myers Rum Sauce

Serves 6-8

Ingredients

• 1 Cup        Whole Milk
• 1 Cup         Heavy Cream
• ½ Cup      Sugar
• ½ Cup      Flour
• 6                 Eggs
• 1 TBSP      Pure Vanilla Extract
• 2 Cups      Coconut, shredded

Preparation
Place milk, cream, sugar, flour, eggs and vanilla in a mixing bowl.  Mix with a hand mixer for 2 minutes on medium speed.  Add coconut and mix together until completely incorporated. Place in a greased pie pan. Cook at 350° for 40-45 minutes.

Rum Sauce

Ingredients
1 Cup        Brown Sugar (light or dark)
1 Cup        Butter, unsalted
1 Cup        Myers Dark Rum
Preparation
In small sauce pan, heat butter over medium heat until melted. Add brown sugar and mix together until sugar dissolves. Add rum and cook for 1 minute on medium heat. Slice pie and serve with rum sauce, to your liking. *Pie best when served warm.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a Valentine’s Day cocktail recipe made with Woodford Reserve, a bourbon whiskey, since bourbon isn’t often written about on this site (not for lack of not liking it – just lack of relevant recipes).

With Valentine’s Day being so closely associated with chocolate, the folks at Woodford Reserve came up with a chocolate based bourbon cocktail – bourbon, creme de cacao, and hazelnut. If you have previously thought that bourbon wasn’t your thing, the Liquid Bourbon Ball may be the perfect re-introduction.

Woodford Reserve’s Liquid Bourbon Ball

• 

  Woodford Reserve Liquid Bourbon Ball

  1 oz. Woodford Reserve

• 1 oz. Creme de Cacao
• 1/4 oz. Hazelnut Liqueur

Fill mixing glass with ice, add ingredients and shake. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

GQ has gone on a search for the 20 Best Cocktails in America and came up with an impressive list. Some of the drinks are classics, while others, like the Strawberry-Rhubarb-Basil-Balsamic Mojito, sound exciting and fun. We figured we would list out GQ’s findings, even though not all of the drinks are girly drinks, but because it’s a fun list and I wouldn’t mind testing out each of these drinks – for research, of course.

Not usually a fan of beer, but I am a fan of champagne. That’s why the Black Velvet cocktail stood out to me. Made with Guinness and Champagne (pretty easy, huh?), this drink is manly enough to serve at a party for your guy friends, but with a touch of Champagne, the Black Velvet is smooth enough to make it into our Girly Drinks book. You’re supposed to add half Champagne/half Guinness to make one Black Velvet, but we say easy on the Guinness, heavy on the Champagne J

Black Velvet Ingredients:

• Champagne
• Guinness stout

Black Velvet Recipe:

Fill a tilted, chilled champagne flute slightly less than halfway with cold champagne. Wait for foam to subside, then slowly add equal part Guinness.

From the makers of Urban Dictionary comes the definition for Girly Drink. So, according to Urban Dictionary, what exactly is a Girly Drink?

A Girly Drink is: “A sweet, sugary, often fruity alcoholic beverage that is most often consumed by women and gay men. Examples include wine coolers, alco-pop beverages, as well as mixed drinks like Cosmopolitans and Fuzzy Navals. Girly drinks stand in contrast to manly drinks such as beer and whiskey, which tend to be strong and bitter.”

While the definition of Girly Drink is meant to be silly, we know that girly drinks can be much more classy, including martinis, shots and, as we recently posted, even manly. What is your definition of a girly drink?
