Camarena Cranberry Margarita

Ingredients:

• 2 cups Camarena Silver Tequila
• 1 cup cranberry juice
• 1 cup Cointreau
• 1 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
• ½ cup fresh squeezed orange juice

Directions:

• In a 48 oz pitcher, add all ingredients and stir well
• Add ice to the pitcher, until filled to the brim and carefully stir
• Serve in lowball glasses rimed with sugar
• Serves 6

Spiced Ginger Apple Tequini

Ingredients:

• 

  Spiced Ginger Apple Tequini

  1 ½ oz Camarena Reposado Tequila

• 2 oz apple cider
• ½ oz Cointreau
• ½ oz fresh lime juice
• 3 dashes of fresh ginger juice
• Thinly-sliced apple slices for garnish

Directions:

• In a cocktail shaker, combine all of the ingredients
• Fill with ice and give a generous shake
• Double strain into a martini glass and garnish with a fan of thinly-sliced apple slices

Prickly Margarita

• 2 oz Cabo Wabo Anejo
• 1/2 oz Agave Nectar
• 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
• 1/2 oz Prickly Pear Puree
• 1 medium Jalapeño Slice
• 1/4 oz Amaretto
• 1 Lime Wheel (garnish)

Place all ingredients, except Amaretto in a shaker, muddle Jalapeño, add ice, and shake vigorously. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass, float Amaretto on top, garnish with a lime wheel, and serve!

Pink Flamingo Margarita

A few weeks ago, I visited Cheeseburger in Paradise with a few friends. If you’re a fan of places like Margaritaville or any tropical/Caribbean themed restaurant in any city that isn’t the Caribbean, you’ll be a fan of Cheeseburger in Paradise. All of the foodie groups I belong to will now disown me for announcing my love of all things Jimmy Buffett and fake caribbean, but that secret was bound to come out one day.

Cheeseburger in Paradise has an extensive drink menu, ranging from tropical margaritas to funky boat drinks and everything in between. Some of their girly drinks include signature fruit faces, pieces of fruit shaped to look like faces with small sunglasses to boot. Order a boat drink, and your cocktail will be garnished with Angelina Fish, Penelope Parrot, Lizard Lips, or Berry Beth.

Another tequila cocktail classic. 3 ingredients, lots of taste.

Tequila Sunrise:

• 

  Tequila Sunrise

  2 oz tequila

• 4 oz Orange Juice
• 1 part Grenadine
• Cherry or orange for garnish
• Optional: Umbrella to make the cocktail girly/beachy/themed

Pour tequila and orange juice into glass filled with ice. Add grenadine. Garnish and serve.

The Tequila Sunrise is an IBA Official Cocktail. One of my bucket list items is to drink through the IBA Official Cocktail list, so here’s an official documented start.

Some variations of the Tequila Sunrise include the Caribbean Sunrise (substitute rum for tequila), Russian Sunrise (substitute Vodka for tequila), Astronaut Sunrise (substitute Tang for Orange Juice), and Diet Sunrise (substitute cranberry juice for grenadine).

What do you do when you have a basket of fresh strawberries from the farmer’s market/store/garden?

You make strawberry margaritas, of course.

Equipped with Sauza Tequila, fresh strawberries, simple syrup, triple sec, limes and a fun margarita glass from Snoloha, I made a batch of fresh strawberry margaritas this Labor Day weekend to celebrate the end of summer.

What you’ll need:

• 1.5 oz Tequila
  

  Fresh Strawberry Margarita in a Snoloha Glass

• 1.5 oz Strawberry Puree
• 1/2 lime
• Triple Sec
• Simple Syrup
• Salt or Strawberry Sugar to rim glass

To make the strawberry puree, cut up fresh, washed strawberries (cut off stems and white part) into quarters, then place into blender with splash of simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar is dissolved). You may need to add more simple syrup to get the right consistency.

Fill blender with ice, add strawberry puree, tequila, juice of lime, and splash of triple sec and blend until mixed.

Pour into margarita glass.

Other variations I’ve seen of the strawberry margarita include adding limeade and a mixture that includes limeade, DeKuyper Strawberry Liqueur, and Champagne by Sauza, but you can also use a variety of strawberry margarita pre-made mixes if strawberries are out of season and you don’t want to buy frozen strawberries.
